(Updates below!)

Selamat Datang!

This site is an advocacy portal for Malaysian activist groups, who can use this site to post public statements, news, announcements for upcoming events, blog-style entries, and much more.

For the general public, this site will hopefully offer an easy way for anyone interested to see what various civil society organizations are saying and working on in Malaysia. For activist organizations, bangkit.net was set up to be an additional platform and medium for getting their various messages across.

Material posted on this site is written by the organisations themselves and posted by either the organisation or the site administration. The views presented here are thus the views of the various participating organizations in their own words, and only minor edits, if any, are made by bangkit.net.

Information for groups wishing to use this site is available on the For Organizations page. As the site grows, material such as organisation profiles, job vacancies, and similar information will hopefully also be made available.

Bangkit.net was created and is maintained by Nathaniel Tan, with able help from a wonderful team of volunteers.

Thanks so much for stopping by, please feel free to leave comments! :)

Updates Jan 24, 2007

Technical:

- The coordinator for bangkit.net can now be reached at editor[at]bangkit[dot]net :)

- E-mail accounts for those interested may be available (yourname[at]bangkit.net) , I use Google hosted, so having a bangkit account would be just like having/using a Gmail one :)

General:

- Thanks to all who have been supporting bangkit.net! :) At this point, I am hoping to expand the number of organisations who use bangkit.net as an added communications platform for their work. I would especially like to include organisations like resident and consumer associations, as well as get better represenation from non-English speaking groups across the ethnic and religious spectrum. I’ll be working on this, but all help will be appreciated! Thanks again :)

It gives me truly immense pleasure to announce that bangkit.net is now run by a team of dedicated volunteers. It was great fun gathering together such a high-calibre team, and I have no doubt that their volunteerism and proactiveness will take bangkit.net to the greater heights!! - nat

    Hei Nat

Your website is good but the page is too long to scroll to check all issues. The Mkini format of soundbite and catch pictures would be good.It gives readers who visit your website the ability to look through the content of the day and manage their reading. It makes readers to visit your website more frequently.Bangkit got all the potential to challenge Mkini man.The other thing that you can do is to create a forum.Check the Bar Council website for sample. It generates lots of discusssion and ideas.Do more banners lah bro-let me know if you want any from AI/Suaram or LRC.Thanks.

    Hi,

Your site runs very fat. Where are you hosted? Is it Exabyte?

    Thanks

It will be more convenient if for each category page, the titles will be appeared first and with the choice of expanding a few lines before going into each message will be helpful to select from more messages.

For NGO, if a list can be provided from those registered, people may easily found an appropriate NGO for their contacts on their matter.

For Law & Justice, if it can be sub-categorized into the kind of cases, it may help people to seem more understanding, Such as Housing (to including those affected by the Housing Act, Strata Title, & the newest Building & Management Bill). I am sure if someone can explain the Rights and Obligations of those concerned in the Acts, it will surely help people to understanding their Rights or if they had been abused.

Case Reporting on Housing Matter could help the statistic which have not been well revealed despites a number of parties claimed to be working on the subject. A simple listing of Name of the Development, Location, no. of Unit Concerned, Average price, Developer, Problems, etc..will give a better picture and cross reference by those affected.

Salute for your work on this site.

You cant imagine how much money they spend trying to silence good people who will put their lives on the line to fight for change.
