MOVIE NIGHT: DROWNED FORESTS & DAMNED LIVES

Indigenous peoples (Chewong, Temuan). Lakum forests near Kelau River. Forced and unjustified resettlement. No free, informed consent. Deforestation. Environmental damage. Unconsidered alternatives. Unnecessary dam.

The planned Kelau Dam project in Pahang is causing a lot of dissent among the Orang Asli and surrounding residents. Besides causing disastrous consequences to flora and vegetation, the project will force several Orang Asli groups to be relocated in order to make way for the dam.
