Following the arrest of 8 lawyers and activists between 8.30am-9.00am this morning in the lawyers-organized march in conjunction with the International Human Rights Day, another human rights lawyer Edmund Bon was arrested at noon time in front of the Malaysian Bar office when he protested against the police for taking down a banner at the Malaysian Bar building.
This makes up the arrestees to 9, namely:
Sivarasa Rasiah, Vice president of People’s Justice Party (Arrested at Jalan Tun Perak)
N. Surendran, human rights lawyer (Arrested at Jalan Tun Perak)
Amer Hamzah, human rights lawyer (Arrested at Jalan Tun Perak)
Eric Paulsen, lawyer and Suaram activist (Arrested at Jalan Tun Perak)
Anthony Andu (Arrested at Jalan Tun Perak)
Noorazah Othman (Arrested at Jalan Tun Perak)
Latheefa Koya, secretariat member of Suaram (Arrested at Jalan Tun Perak)
Asraf Ali bin Sadah Kastullah (arrested in front of Malaysian Bar building)
Edmund Bon, secretariat member of Suaram (Arrested in front of Malaysian Bar building)
Meanwhile, civil society groups are organizing a vigil at the Independence Square in Kuala Lumpur tonight at 8.00pm to protest against the assault on the freedom of assembly and to support those arrested by the police in the rallies of the Malaysian Bar, BERSIH (a civil society coalition campaigning for electoral reform), the Hindu Rights Action Force and the lawyers and activists arrested today.
We urge you to continue to register your strongest protest to the Malaysian Prime Minister and the Inspector General of Police for this assault on the right of the people to freedom of assembly to hold on to its power.

The message was clear, “I’m the apM and follow my lead or face the music”-Pak Lah- ..
Besides, those ppl/lawyers break the law. Are they supposed to break the law? aren’t they suppose to be the one who protect and practice the law?
I do support the Human Rights movement, but this is not the way to do it, especially at time like this..I’d say, wrong moment..
