We poor indians and citzens of malaysia appericate your effort. How lucky are the malays muslim who are made instant millionares by UMNO when FELDA schemes are sold for commercial values to developers. The indians who have toil all their lifes in the estate are given only low cost houses. Sometimes even this is not fullfilled.UMNO has created more than 10,000 instant millionares by this scheme and the biggest winners are malay muslim. The poor indians has made the british masters and the local owners who are malay and chinese elites who have pocketed the profit from the sale of this estate.WHERE IS JUSTIC?

VERY GOOD DEED MR W MOORTY, THANK YOU. Take the example of Australian aborigines, who were marginalised , and their pathetic conditions today. I was in Australia in the 1970s and 1990s. This is the same position for Indians, Take the example of UiTM, there are more than 150,000 students -bumiputras,Cambodians,Burmese,Saudis,Singaporeans, etc, etc, BUT not one Hindu Indian,or one Chinese [ both Malaysians ]. Imagine that!*#. The same thing is happening in all other aspects of Indian life - Hindu Temples : no budget allocation, destruction, forced to move to unimaginable places [sewage treatment areas]: bullying tactics used on Indians by all govn.agencies, The Aust. Abrogines position today is : highest crime rate, sucides, poverty, 40% have been to jail at least once, etc. Can you see the similarities with our Indians, INDIANS, HELLO INDIANS, PLEASE WAKE UP.

  7. 7 UTHRA Oct 9th, 2007 at 7:45 pm

BEST OF LUCK HINDRAF, I AM WITH YOU.Look at the so called budget,is the any items for the upliftment of the Indian poor, TWO MILLION Indians, any factors we Indians can be proud off. Nothing, everything went to the Muslims and UMNOputras. THE MIC donkeys said ba ba baik ba….When questioned about THIS MARGINALIZING effect, the answer was: it will appear in the off-budget allocations. I am an accountant, please do not lie . The is no such things as off budget allocations UNLESS IT IS MENTIONED IN THE BAJET. THIS is for the mic goons, ba ba black sheep. Indians, I_N_D_I_A_N_S_, HAI VANAKAM, OPEN YOUR EYES, you are a MAlaysian , where is your share of the b-a-j-e-t ??????????

Hindraf has done well in highlighting a few issues related to
the marginalisation of the indians in Malaysia .

Indians were brought from India to work for the British who in turn reaped the profits and took back to Britain.Chinese came to trade in the lands cleared by the Indians.Malays used the hardwork of Indians to find new development in their land.

When the Independence was given they left with their hands full and wished the malays, chinese and indians the best of luck.

The constitution was written and the malays, chinese and indians sat together to stake their claim on Malaya ,her wealth and prosperity.

Hindraf sues British government on behalf of the Malaysian Indians . Good job guys !!!!

Who is suing the Indian leaders who never demanded for their rights from the British ? If they had we might have been the richest and strongest community in this country.

Who is suing the current leaders who are scared to voice the grieviances of the community for fear that they will loose out on the bits that are thrown to them ?

INDIANS WE ARE REPRESENTED IN THIS COUNTRY . WE NEED LEADERS TO VOICE OUR CONCERNS FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN.THIS IS THE TIME TO STAKE OUR CLAIMS.LETS NOT MISS THE BOAT AGAIN.

Hey all Malaysians out there, beware of unqualified doctors. Graduated doctors not up to the mark, can have your liver punctured, wrong prescriptions, Dato Marican not monitoring the pool of unqualified students running elsewhere to buy their degrees. Come back to serve goverment they dont know anything much lah….. My foreign friends noticed that many of these students do not study at all lah, they drag on for years get their degree return back and start …. practicing lah quack quack what is happening out there….does not your leaders in medical board and monitor the influx of those running else where and want to be doctors…. lots of indians scored very high but no place in Malaysian lah to gain entry when they are fully qualified to gain entry in the medical universities in their own country….full distinctions but turned down…samy vellu said go for IT LAH. So how to find professional doctors. Have brains but not selected by our government lah… Border line achievers and below level ones are doctors and going to be serving the government.

  18. 18 Strong Supporter of Ahimsa Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:05 am

I’m not against anything that would do good for our community but after reading some of the posts here and also a copy of the petition, this is only for Tamil speaking society? It’s clearly stated in the petition “Indians of Tamil origin” meaning from Tamil Nad? UMNO controlled M’sian government? We (voted) them to be up there.

So, instead of doing this rally, why cant we approach this matter in a different way.

1.GE for example. Gather and educate all these 20,000 ppl who’s going to gather at the rally, ask them use their vote to change the government. Even the minorities can make a significant change in a government if its done smartly.
2.Or show our dissatisfaction by boycotting the vote.Doesnt sound realistic, but think about it. No matter how hard we try, part of the ppl will get hit. Kampung Medan issue was a perfect example. Why do we have to loose more lives when are already a minority in a country?

Think well…Not saying dont do this rally, but there are alternative way for us to get the leaders who has left us stranded. Let us make them pay for what they have not done for us in Ghandi way. Ahimsa way!

  19. 19 vicky Nov 23rd, 2007 at 4:48 pm

If we cant reach the british embassy, then we should converge in temples churches or other place of our religious belief in KL to pray and make offerings in the success of this gathering. They cant stop us from praying can they? KL this weekend should be filled with indians of any origin. Support the persons who are standing up for us.

Do we also need to hold a protest against chinese owned companies who shamelessly advertise job vacancies that read towards the end “Chinese prefered” or “Mandarin required” when the scope of work does not require one to know mandarin. Of course later followed by Bumi only ads. Can some one tell me where do we send the petition to.

Just a few days ago a well qualified indian professional lady working for a european company said that she has been trying to apply for Jobs in Penang through job agencies because she is getting to married to a gentleman there, She got a rude awakening when the employment agency said that she is the best qualified person for the job but the company wants a Chinese. This is not uncommon for Indians who get bashed up from both sides.

These are the very things that the Malays were concerned about and wanted to protect themselves against.

Can you imagine what they Chinese Businessmen did to other races when they were in full control of the economy before the 1969. When they controlled the source ( wholesale and other industries) and never let anyone else in. Untill today this is prevalent in Shopping Malls leasing out outlets or Supermarkets leasing out shelf space and wholesellers supplying retailers. This is the very fact that led to NEP and quota systems.

Squeezed in between without economic might of the Chinese and Political Power of the Malays the Indian labourers have taken their plight to the streets.

Without affirmative government effort it is going to be difficult to uplift many of them. There is a growing gap between the well bred/heeled Indians and the working class.

But all is not well with the Indians too. They must also be mindlfull overall that they have not shown good academic performance after obtaining seats in the Universities. There have been a lot of drop outs.
( i dont know the reason).

If they mobilise themselves properly they can turn temples into cultural and educational institutions but that doesnt seem to be happening. Temples are merely funcitioning as a place for rituals and emotional fullfiment.

A lot of Indians also idle in front of TV after work and skip work in the name of functions and rituals. In Fact spare time can be used for creating wealth.

Most qualified and employable Indians seem to be from ethnic Malayalee or SriLankan descent because their parents tend to have better education or come from families practicing good principles of life.

This is still a land of opportunity no matter how many walls are erected in front of us. There is still a lot of things an individual can do to create wealth for himslef/herself and the country without the help of the government.

The problem is to raise the conscience of the backward class, we need to mobilise funds and organise social machinery. And thats why they need the support of the government.

The government has everything to gain by helping them. If these stock of people has helped plant the country with oil palm and rubber which has become our economic buffer come what may, they can still benefit country if equipped and mobilised in the right direction.

One last request to Chinese businessmen and managers please help build an equitable society. You dont need to convert to christianity or buddhism or islam to treat people equally.

Racism is a great evil and we Asians are more racist then westerners.
Our communal political make up in Malaysia has fueled it further.
Everyone is guilty of racism Chinese, Indians and ..

When all of us can get over this Then everything will fall in its place. No more NEP, NO More Quota System, No more Matriculation, No More Bumi Putra Only, No More Chinese Preferred.

    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

I am a Malaysian citizen, and I am a subscriber of ASTRO Satellite TV Broadcast here in Malaysia. Recently I have subscribed to the ASTRO News Package which contains Al Jazeera and other foreign news media.

I was highly looking forward for the international news broadcast on all of the stations provided by the package when I had shocking news from our local news station claiming that the foreign news broadcasters are lying and making stories without properly acquiring the real facts and they are very good actors !!! Furthermore these claims were also made by our government’s politicians.

Now, this is rather disturbing and disappointing for me as I have only subscribed for the service for just a few days and I’m being bombarded with such claims. This eventually made me to think:

Am I an IDIOT to subscribe, pay and end up watching acts and lies
    OR
Is there is any conspiracy going on here????

I clearly understand the fact that Al Jazeera has a strong principal called the Code of Ethics and you strictly follow it. But the claims by the politicians and local media here make me to think otherwise.

The claims below were broadcasted on 27-November-2007 in TV3 news station. Similar claims were also made in other local newscasters. This is just a few of the claims.

    1. TV3 news station claimed that the foreign media cannot be trusted as they do not report the actual news.

    2. YAB Datuk Sri Samy Velu claims that there were only 4,600 demonstrators on 25-November-2007 and NOT 50,000 or any other number as claimed by the foreign media.

    3. TV3 news station said that the questions thrown at the Information Minister of Malaysia by Al Jazeera (Al Jazeera’s name was mentioned) was to purposely create a scene to show that Malaysia is in kiosk situation and Al Jazeera purposely built up the story from the real one. They also mentioned the criticism made by the Information Minister to Al Jazeera.

(Prior to sending the mail, I did some research on the net and actually found the video clip of the above Interview in Youtube. And I actually laughed myself out listening to the reply given by our Minister. Pity him for his language. But in the Malaysian news channel TV3, they only provided the “CLEAN” version of the transcript and the actual call was not aired. This makes me even more confused!!! Who is telling the truth here???)

Now, if Al Jazeera is telling lies,

It is high time for Al Jazeera to review back their Code of Ethics and provide the truth for the people. If you can’t do it then don’t cheat the entire world. And don’t broadcast your news at all. I am not a fool to keep paying for acts and lies.

And if Al Jazeera is NOT lying,

Well, what the heck. The damage has already been done. No one in Malaysia is going to listen to your news anyway due to the “VERY GOOD” publicity done by the Malaysian politicians and the local media. By the way, did I mention that our local media could also be received by our neighboring countries like Singapore and Thailand?

    FINAL CONCLUSION

It is not my intension to insult Al Jazeera, other foreign media, our local media or the politicians. If you feel offended by this email, I sincerely apologize to you. Whatever the scenario is, all that I want (and the rest of Malaysian citizens who are in my situation want) is the truth. Since Al Jazeera’s and other foreign media’s names have been badly damaged here in Malaysia, Al Jazeera and the other foreign media’s SHOULD do something to fix it back or you may start loosing your viewer in Malaysia.(and its surrounding countries too)

I hope you could keep my details confidential and properly investigate on this issue (just incase if you don’t trust me) and find out the real truth behind such a drastic claims by our local media. That is if you still follow your Code of Ethics.

    Yours truly,
    A concerned viewer.

    PS:
    1. i am also forwarding this mail to other foreign media for their response.
    2. i will be posting this transcript in the internet via blogs so that the viewers around the world will be aware that this matter has been brought to your attension and for them to express their views.
