Job opportunities in Malaysian AIDS Council

The Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) is an umbrella organization of 42 partner Non-Governmental Organisations with a working Secretariat located in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. The Council is committed to creating an environment free from the negative impacts of HIV/AIDS through coordinating and maximizing community responses, capacity building and advocacy locally, regionally and internationally.

The Council is looking for qualified and self–motivated individuals to fill the following positions:

Executive Director
Reporting to the President and working closely with the Executive Committee of the Malaysian AIDS Council and the Board of Trustees of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation, the Executive Director will be responsible for leading and managing the Malaysian AIDS Council and the Malaysian AIDS Foundation Secretariat.
The ideal candidate should have
• A degree in any discipline, preferably in social sciences
• At least five years experience in organisational management in the developmental/ NGO field
• Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian and human rights issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written Bahasa Malaysia and English
• Skills in developing and managing partner relationships, including with NGOs, government agencies, the private sector and other relevant agencies, building and sustaining collaborations with local, regional and international agencies and coalitions alike.
• An ability to develop and advocate on HIV/AIDS related issues particularly at policy level.

Head, Training and Resource Centre
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head will be required to manage, monitor and evaluate the Training and Resource Centre activities of MAC and its partner organisations.
The ideal candidate should have:
• Tertiary-level qualifications in a relevant discipline with background in training and a minimum of 5 years of working experience in an NGO or international organisation.
• Good managerial skills and possess excellent training skills.
• Excellent oral and written Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Able to develop manuals and training modules
• Able to identify, develop and manage Resource Programme database and kits
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate training activities.
• Willingness to travel.

Head, Special Projects
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head will be required to manage, monitor and evaluate the activities of the projects under the Division, the current projects being the Needle and Syringe Exchange Programme and the Marginalized Communities
The ideal candidate should have:
• Tertiary-level qualifications in a relevant discipline with background in programme development and management and a minimum of 5 years of working experience in an NGO or international organisation.
• Good managerial skills and possess excellent communication skills.
• Excellent oral and written Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Able to recommend plans, policies and guidelines in the implementation of programmes and projects for the Division.
• Able to promote and facilitate relationship building and strengthening with implementing agencies and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate the progress and performance of the activities, programmes and projects and recommends improvements therein.
• Willing to work with marginalized groups
• Willingness to travel.
