MWG Seminar on the Anti-Trafficking Bill
CARAM Asia Office, KL

A very important piece of legislation is being passed in Parliament, which concerns the trafficking of people. Many of the migrants and refugees we work with have suffered at the hands of traffickers. So far, there have been very few mechanisms put in place to protect and assist them. The Anti-Trafficking Bill has been designed to address this.

By understanding what trafficking means (it also includes trafficking for labour, not just sex), and what sort of legislation and enforcement mechanisms are being put in place, we will be better equipped to provide migrants and refugees with advice and assistance.

The Migration Working Group is organising a briefing seminar on the Anti-Trafficking Bill. We will have two special speakers giving us their comments on the Bill:

Aegile Fernandez, Tenaganita
Thomas Daniels, Political Officer, US Embassy

We will then have an extended time for questions, answers and discussions.
