With regards to the above matter, we would like to inform you that the civil suit of Ex ISA detainee, Abdul Malek bin Hussin against the government of Malaysia is coming to the final stage. The judge has fixed tomorrow as the date to hear oral submissions from both the plaintiff and respondents. The case will be heard on the following:
Date : 1 June 2007 (Friday)
Time : 9 am
Venue: 4th Floor, High Court S3, KL High Court , Jalan Duta.
The respondents in the above case are the Malaysia government, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Borhan bin Haji Daud.
Abdul Malek Hussin was arrested on the night of September 25, 1998 after addressing a demonstration earlier that afternoon in Masjid Negara. He accused the police of severely assaulting him, physically and mentally. In his statutory declaration, Malek said he was slapped, punched, beaten-up and hit hard on the head until he passed out.
