On 19.5.2007 on the 4.00p.m, 5.00p.m and 6.00 p.m news, Al Jazeera broadcasted over Astro channel 20, and worldwide, the indiscriminate Hindu temple demolishments in Malaysia.
The demolished Sri Siva Bala Muniswarar Setapak Hindu temple site with the Twin Towers, the international symbol of Malaysia proudly perched in the background and overlooking the rubble of the said temple was shown. The priest of this temple Mr.Sivalingam was shown expressing his disappointment with the state authorities.
Also broadcasted was the site of the Sri Kumaravel Hindu temple in Kg Medan which was forcibly demolished and relocated next to a sewerage plant. Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) Chairman Mr.P.Waytha Moorthy was shown in the midst of the rubble of this demolished temple, outlining how (almost all of these) Hindu temples had existed even before Malaysia’s independence in 1957 and were never legalised unlike all the Muslim places of worship, contrary to Article 11 and Article 8 of the Federal Constitution –Freedom of Religion and Equality before the law.
Malaysian’s longest serving and only Hindu minister Dato’ Seri S.Samy Vellu was then featured boldly stating that these temples were in the way of development and had to be demolished. Samy Vellu further arrogantly stated that he knows better than us and had “resited” more than 100 Hindu temples when asked (about the 68 Hindu temples demolished for the year 2006 vide Hindraf’s letter dated 20.11.2006).
Instead of directly answering the question, Samy Vellu evaded and side-stepped the whole issue by answering that NGOs’ fighting this cause were “politicising” the issue, as he had no real answers.
In the 6.00p.m news coverage, Human Rights Lawyer P.Uthayakumar was interviewed live and he outlined Article 11 of the Federal Constitution (Freedom of Religion) and Section 295 of the Penal Code (Defiling a place of worship) and that the Malaysian authorities had no respect for the Constitution and the law but continued to act with impunity. When asked by the host whether these temples were in the way of development P.Uthayakumar replied that if need be, these temples were prepared to move but no alternative land was alienated, gazetted as Hindu temple reserves and mo funds granted for their relocation by the Government of Malaysia.
When suggested by Al Jazeera host M/s Divya that critics were saying that NGOs’ were politicising the issue, P.Uthayakumar replied that they were merely temporary relocations only to be demolished later and challenged Samy Vellu to furnish us the list of the said 100 over temples “resited” with land alienated, gazetted and funded for relocation and further stating that Samy Vellu would not be able to furnish the same.
We hereby once again challenge Samy Vellu to furnish us this “resited” temple list with land alienated, gazetted as Hindu temple reserves and the amount of funds granted for the said “resiting”. Mr.P.Uthayakumar labelled Samy Vellu as a mere proxy of the (Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi’s) government.
We further challenge Samy Vellu to an open debate on this matter and also with a view for Al Jazeera and the media to cover the same live, and let the world decide on the state of freedom of religion in Malaysia.
We wish to record our disappointment that despite having served the Malaysian Cabinet for about half of Malaysia’s 50 years of independence, Samy Vellu is still unable to resolve this issue of indiscriminate Hindu temple demolishments, and most other even more elementary social problems affecting especially the Malaysian Indian poor.
What SAMY VELLU was talking was all lies. Take the example of SHAH ALAM, many temples were demolihed,20 over temples were brutally destroyed. When I took in charge of 17 over temples in 1981 under Malaysia Hindu Sangam , none of the temples have been given alternative sites untill today [ 26 years later] but a few temples have been destroyed with the help of MIC KANDAN,MAHALINGAM,DURAI,RAJAGOPAL,SIVALINGAM,and more destruction will be coming with KAMALA. One temple in section 16 is rumoured to be given land for the temple but that to, HALF the temple land stolen by the HELLS ASURAN MIC.
WHAT happened in Sitiawan Soffolk Estate in 1990, there was a 120 year old temple,built when Sitiawan was under the STRAITS SETTLEMENT. The state government wanted the land for police building. Without giving proper alternate land the temple was demolished using drug edicts with the over gracious MIC donkeys and GOONS. From Perak Kumaran to Samy Velo were notified and informed,court cases were filled,only DAP stood by us. After 17 years the temple site is still vacant, CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT. I do not know what to call samy velo, mic, the perak state govrn.,the local council. JACKALS,ASSES !@#*@

My understanding of a temple is a place of worship as well as a place for the the leaders and elders of our community to impart knowledge of all forms be it education , culture,religion etc to the younger generation.
This is where people came to share their joy and good luck with the others in the community and it was where those who had problems came to seek for help from others in the community.This is where members of the community meet during festivals and auspicious occassions to share.
It is therefore obvious that a temple is a place for the members of the indian community to communicate,spread information and decide on the future of the community.
However with the spread of the community to various locations and the formation of smaller fractions of the community the need to build temples in these different locations becomes necessary to cater to the needs of the population there.
BUT THEN THE ACTIONS OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS , GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND REGRETFULLY MIC (THE PARTY THAT REPRESENTS THE COMMUNITY) TO DEMOLISH THESE TEMPLES INDICATES THAT THESE GROUPS ARE THREATENED BY THE EXSISTENCE OF SUCH PLACES OF COMMUNICATION.SPREAD OF INFORMATION TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY IS STOPPED.

I think Samyvelu, The elected person by CWC of MIC as the preident must be forced to attend for an interview with HINDRAF.The malaysian government thinks that he is the only proxy for malaysian indians. It has also use MIC to give any benefits or intructions to th indians. Therefore he must attend the interview and tell the truth atleast once in is lifetime. This interview must be telecast live and the whole nation must be informed earlier.

If you don’t get a contract - too bad, as works minister he made sure that even ali baba type business went to his Indian friends also. The poor and backward are there because they ask for it - if we concentrate on helping them, we can never create millionaires. Remember the simple philosophy “you give poor the money - they won’t work, have more kids and eventually the number of poor people will increase”.

First and foremost hats off to these gentleman’s who took an effort to voice out concerns on behalf the Indian/Hindu community of the great Malaysia.
The fact is I would be much interested to highlight a point here. We must sincerely acknowledge that our people especially those are from the heartland and some part of unexposed area close to the city where people are very aggressive in the Hindu ritual and started to built temples every where.
There was an old saying “oru oruku oru kovil” but what happen today in our modern society? Under the name of God, Religious Egoist started to build temples on every street, every home every junction and on top of that temple also became a place where only certain people who belongs to particular caste to manage it.
Therefore these has crave a root cause to build their family temples and so on.
I think we should address these issue primarily rather then go on fighting and arguing, and complaining and whatsoever.
There are so many temples in the city too, why those temples are not disturbed or demolished? Think carefully!
All these issues and noises about the temples matter are pointless, I sincerely believe we should build more schools then temples simply because knowledge will definitely determine our children’s future, no doubt about it. In fact we have witness in front of our eyes how the Chinese community focusing in building schools rather then temples.
I believe our leaders didn’t play a proactive role in many area. The leader had failed to address issue diligently, there is an identification of our leaders incapable to mobilize dynamically.
Perhaps they would have pocketed the allocated fund for the relocation of the temples.

The action taken by Hindraf is to be saluted but the question still remains how many of our Indians itself knowing all this will take an active part to actually fight for our own rights. Our main let down is our own race. Agreed that we have been totally wronged but can we get the unity from all to go to the root of it and stand united to make sure the wrong is undone.
Furthermore, now our so called leader is propogating all sorts in the media about Hindraf and that to the extent that participant for the event on the 25th may also be caught, so do you not think there should be another cause of action prepared just if in case the event is sabotaged?

I like the world know that there is a different kind of treatment for the other races in Malaysia.
It started with a man they called Mahathir 22 years ago and a Malay pretender born as an Indian. He manipulated the Malays and used them to set them against the Chinese and the Indians.
Championing their cause for his own ends,he practised subtle apartheid while condemning the West for theirs. Special privileges were for the Malays.From the purchase of houses, cars and borrowings from bank, to having special licenses for business and education quotas he bluffed the world that all were being treated fairly. Everytime there was an election he used fear by exploiting the May 13 issue.
Meanwhile he cunningly exploited the leaders of both races to take care of their own race thus using the same divide and rule policy of the British which he was set against initially. These have fallen into a trap and a viscious circle where they cannot voice out much but to be the runnning dogs of UMNO the dominant group. There is now a polarisation between the races that is seemingly impossible to heal. You see it in schools, shops, universities and the work place. The use of Islam for political mileage is the final nail on the coffin for us.
There is massive coruption, cover-ups and abuse of power. Any person coming here to start a business has to grease someones palm first or it is 30% ownership equity which will be controlled by those in power. Of late there is a vast gap between the common Malay and the those in power as the rampant rape of the coffers is being done by those in control.
The Indians are the worst lot..they have been completely played out in all areas. It is really sad as this country is really rich in natural resources and it is more than sufficient for everyone.

It is the ROMAN empire call UMNO that is robbing all rakyat their hard earn money via taxes and our EPF. So pls differentiate between orang melayu and orang UMNO.Also there’s a difference between UMNOputra and Bumiputra. The only thing Samy Vellu has done is fill his own pockets by stealing and cheating the indians. Remember the Telekom Share issue where 10,000,000 shares were allocated to Maika shareholders which would have allowed all those who invested in Maika to make a substantial profit. However he hijacked 9,000,000 of the shares to his son’s company and only 1,000,000 went to Maika which resulted in Maika almost going bankrupt as it was only set up for the benefit of samy and his cronies and relatives by cheating the indians. As for the roads you talk about, do you know how much commission he earns by giving out this contracts to the contractors. He does not care about the indians but only himself. Yes he has created millionaires of some indians but only his own relatives and cronies. He has done nothing for the poor indians who really needs help. Instead he lies and cheats them when election comes but after that he is gone.
If you claim that he has sacrificed for the indians at the expense of his own family, I challenge you to give details. It seems that all his supporters only talk big of him doing things for indians but can never give details, whereas I have given details of all the bad he has done.
As for organising thaipusam, again do you know how much money goes to his pockets for this. Again I challenge you to provide the accounts for this and you will see. Batu caves collects tons of money as it is one of the major tourist attractions, where does the money go. I dare the community to provide the accounts and let all indian scrutinize it and Im sure there will be lots of discrepancies.

Please made clear of the process in building the temple. Every development must get approvals from relevant authorities. Unfortunately, there are some Indians in this country who simply build the temple without first follow the gazetted procedures. It is even worst becoz they simply built the temple on other Malaysians private land. Is it what Hindu has been teaching their followers?

first of all, getting hyper sensitive over racial issues didn’t prove us any better compared to the rest. yes… i am a Malaysian Indian. i love my country and i am, in no way racist by any school of thought. the way that Tun Mahathir, single handedly, dealt with all his issues during his premiership has to be awarded. the current prime minister has made many unforgivable mistakes.
it is disheartening to read many comments that diss and defames Tun Mahathir. he did take a lot for his community but he also gave a lot back to the country. kudos to tun mahathir. have any of u read his books? pls do before flaming him so badly. he clearly mentioned that his biggest disappointment before leaving cabinet is that he didn’t sack 2 ministers. im sure u can guess who they are. he knew the meaning of give and take and im sure after 50 years of this country, we, Indians, had our glory years during his leadership. simple example is the maxis owner’s success due to tun mahathir’s help and there are many more. im just showing the ‘billionaire’ as a clear cut diamond.
technically we should be blaming ourselves. we let a ,useless, slow poke lead our community for almost 26 years now. we voted him up there, so why blame others. when there were smarter people and more efficient people than him, we let him bury them. he was only looking after himself, so we cant blame him. the animal kingdom understands this concept and if we cant, its an embarrassment to us. so the main blame was on us but this is not all. things have gotten worst.
as for the issues of the temples. i, personally, feel that the right is for the temple authorities and hindraf as they are the 2 Hindu related parties in this particular issue. the gov should deal with them directly and not do things as they please. the way things are going shows lack of democracy and freedom rather than justice and fairness.
for the marginalization issues of the Indian race, it is solely the current governing agency’s fault. it could have been handled in a very beautiful and just manner yet the prime minister, after acknowledging the letter, chose to go for a vacation on the day that hindraf was to meet him. i think the pm need to read some history books because we all know that racial sentiments are a major issue in this country. he should have dealt with this first before choosing his personal pleasure. his actions were sinfully wrong and also immature. im a 23 year old Malaysian Indian student and i could think better than him. shame upon him.
Malaysian Indians also have an issue where particular Malays are saying that we don’t deserve any privileges. i feel this are the type of Malays that spoil the big picture of their race. i mix around very well amongst races and i am very sure that no race in Malaysia would think like this. there are many well educated Malaysian that already think that Malaysia deserves a fair fight in the world. government policies are for the 60’s. we are so far behind. i hope that the Malaysian Indians read this and are also kindled by it.

The real DEVIL in our politics are UMNO - (U Must Not Object). These UMNO politicians are not even bothered of their Malays who are suffering. They are businessmen in parliament. They are blinded wih corruption, greed, power and the least islamic of all. They will not hesitate to use their religion, racism and twist the law for their on hold to power. The biggest crook is KJ, HHO and few others butter servants. They are the ones corrupting the mind of the Malays and putting the scare in them. The NEP is an excuse for them to get richer and not for the Malays as a whole. Who actually benefitted from NEP, the UMNO putras and now their concubines in partnership, UMNO putris. They will show their heroics during the UMNO general election with cheap speeches via Race and Religion championing and also instilling fear in them that non malays are jealous of them and wnat to take their rights. The biggest culprit now is KJ and Hishamudin. All the Malays, Indians and Chinese must get together and teach hese UMNO fellas a lesson. They think they are GOD’s chosen ones. TRUTH is written every where now. No one including the many Malays trust them anymore. The Malays are also fed up - believe me.
Even the Malays that I have spoken to are all fed up with UMNO. Most Malays are, believe me…. against UMNO now. So, please do not condemn the Malays… they are actually okay. You can win them to your side. Not the greedy UMNO thieves and also some Indian Muslims (Mamaks) in UMNO who are disguising themselves as Malays. Example…. too many lah. Zainuddin Maidin !!!! Dey Matcha….Yanda Matcha? Most of these fellas are mixed blood, send their children overseas for education, speak English with their children and then talk about themselves as the real Malays.
So, lets get realistic here and while being emotional…. not be so narrow like these UMNO putras and putris. The Malays are nice but teach these UMNO crooks ( Romans as Ahmad Sanusi puts it)the hardest lesson in their life. My prayers are for all tomorrow. May GOD Bless this country with peace, love, prosperity for all and most of UNITY between all races and religions. No Race or Religion is greater than the other. No race must think that they must control everything. The same message goes to the Chinese too. … because some of them too sometimes behave like the Malays in the pivate sector. WE all know that. But I do have many Chinese friends who are not like that too.
If these people want to marginalise us, We can create our own economy. But from Indian owned Cash & Carry outlets, buy clothes from Kamdar (open our own clothing emporiums), buy insurances from our own people, don’t buy from colgate if they do not employ Indians in deserving roles ( we can use VICCO). What I am trying to say is create our own economy by buying from each other goods and services. Buy from desrving Chinese and Malays if they have fair play.
We can also boycott by not paying taxes to he Government if they do not treat us well. So, my dear fellow brothers/sister, we have many ways and be rational OK. My support is for all in HINDRAF and those being there.

To know better about the condition in national schools just take a week off and be in the schools to see what is happening.On Fridays for hours the muslims have prayers during assembly. Our kids are not suppose to make noise or talk during this sections. Imagine 7 or 8 year old, how can they keep quite for an hour.Then comes the exams, they have prayers during the school days where our kids are left in the classrooms to play.Some of the teachers ask them not to come to school on these days.They have extra classes after school hours only for the malay students so that they will do well in the exams.Are they being fair to our weak kids????Imagine what will to the state of our kids in the national schools in the future.I am proud to see some brave Malaysians out there ready to struggle for our fellow Indians…Thanks…Keep doing the right things for the Indians..

A few months back, our Education Minister was showing the keris, the symbol of Umno Youth. My daughter who was sitting next to me ask why was thia man carrying a knife. Is his life in danger? Is there somebody who want to hurt him? Her concern was for more his safety not knowing the real reason for him displaying his keris.
I thought myself for a while and found it hard to imagine waht was he trying to prove? For me, was it necessary? What is the message this man want to show to fellow Malaysia of all races. The Malays control the Goverment, The Army, The Police, the State Authhority, the local council, the bumiputra quata in all MNC companies. The Malays are guaranteed rights to land, education and others. Islam is the official religion. Everything is going their way and basically they control 100% of the country. So why the KERIS. Maybe it is to show JANGAN CABAR HAK KAMI.
Then we look at the chinese in malaysia, their success depends on their unity, coperation and business among themselves.
The question then come to us, Indians? What we have and where we are heading. Who is going to take care of us. Are we going to enjoy the success of our Country, Malaysia? Who is going to head for us to move forward.
We do not need to go far but just take Chennai as an example. The progress the Indians had made in the IT world. Again, we need guidance. The political parties should take the lead. Our rich Indian brothers should assist especially our poor folk in the estate who spent their entire life working there thinking that and their children and grandchildren future is there only to lose everything when development steps in leaving them high and dry. Without proper education and direction, influence of our great Tamil cinema, option are very less, be an hero, villian or commit suicide. End of a movie. Next please.
Assisting one or two people in a state and telling the whole world what a person or a n party has done will not lead us anywhere. We need a concrete plan to be enjoyed by every indian from young until they become somebody. If country don’t assist, the clan should spherehead it. For once, everybody from politican to the ordinary forks should sit down and come up with a twenty year plan. Success will not come overnight.
I am sad with the Indian plight but we just need good leaders to work a plan that will move us up higher than what we deserve.
I am absolutely disgusted by “Aku Malay”’s comment. Who do you bloody think you are? You don’t own this land just because you are Malay. The word “Bumiputera” doesn’t make you a prince of anything. You took this land by force from the Orang Asli and branded your proud race across everything and then made the Chinese and Indian work for your everyday comfort, while the Orang Asli are still suffering under your rule. You even branded the word “Malay” and brilliantly added “-sia” behind it. Look carefully into your own history before you start shooting your mouth off like you did. Use a little more common sense (we all know you a heck of a lot of it of late) and perhaps then we can live “harmoniously” instead of hypocritically. If you dare come back into this forum and shoot your mouth off like that again, perhaps then you should think twice and return to your own homeland in the middle east and parade your own lordship there. if you wanna speak about drunken monkeys, look at the Mat Rempits carefully and I dare you to tell us what race they are!
The politicians of BN keep telling that “WE” are breaking the law.
We are breaking the law? Which part are we breaking the law?
Can they answer? SK Devamany’s response to Al Jazeera’s interview today is just so obvious that he don’t have clear justification on why the government are stopping us by completing the peaceful gathering infront the British embassy. His answer most are “I think…err, I think…” :)
Rather than the politicians and government being so adamant and denying the fact or the purpose of the peaceful gathering to handover 100,000 signature to British and raise the truth of indian etnics rights in malaysia. Why don’t they try to be more caring and open their ears and doors to listen the minority ETNICS valuable and most meaningful concerns that the HINDRAF leaders raised?
If the points are not truth, why 1st of all the Indians from different state took the effort and came all the way to give their support?
TO BN and current GOVERNMENT > LISTEN TO THE PROBLEM and try to find the solution for EQUAL RIGHTS FOR INDIANS IN MALAYSIA. WE ARE THE CITIZENS OF MALAYSIA despite of how minority are we. THIS IS OUR COUNTRY TOO.

What i want to know is this. Do you want to support or give consent to all these blood sucking groups like MIC and other Indian societies the so called “Indian associations” whom are coloring the HINDRAF like how the government wants it to be done? Do you really need this kind of people to talk for you? Do you really want all these ball lickers of Umno and BN to fight for you or at least talk for you? .. I do not think so.
Brothers and Sisters, spread this message around. Coming election, DO NOT VOTE FOR BARISAN NASIONAL OR ANY OF ITS COALITION. Only vote for OPPOSITION regardless of their party. We more opposition voices. IF YOU LET THE BN to come again, ALL hopes of Indians to revive will be dead. DO NOT VOTE FOR BARISAN NASIONAL. ALL INDIANS VOTE FOR OPPOSITION.
