We would like to inform you that the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education will be coming to Malaysia from February 5-14, 2007 to study the issues and problems of the right to education in Malaysia.
Dong Zong, Musleh, Tamil Foundation and Suaram have had a few meetings on this visit and have decided to organize a meeting of Malaysian NGOs with the special rapporteur, Mr Vernor Munoz, which has agreed to attend the meeting.
The meeting will be held at the following:
Date: 6 February 2007
Time: 2.00pm - 5.00pm
Venue: Meeting conference hall, New Era College, Kajang
The meeting is open to all NGOs to discuss with the Special Rapporteur about the status of the right to education in Malaysia.
Dong Zong (Chinese education), Tamil Foundation (Tamil education) and Musleh (Islamic religious education) have confirmed that they will be submitting the issues and cases confronting their work of education.
We would like to encourage indigenous groups, diabled groups, refuge communities, migrant groups and others to make submission to the special raporteur.
If your group is interested to participate, please kindly let us know. Due to the time constraint, if your educational issue is similar to those of Dong Zong (whiteflag99@hotmail.com), Tamil foundation (katril@tm.net.my) and Musleh (mmmusleh@streamyx.com), please discuss with them to incorporate your issues and concerns.
